Lola, a doctor, "empty-nest" mother, and divorcee, goes about her daily routine on a snowy morning. She makes tea, takes a work call, reminisces of her family and friends, and does her makeup. After attempting emotional mimicry with photos of her and her loved ones, she proceeds downstairs and dies of a broken heart induced by the stress of a recently deceased animal companion.
